Free Pattern: Magical Mermaid Fingerless Gloves

I’m sure you’ve seen photos of the AMAZING dragon scale fingerless gloves that have been making their rounds on the interwebs. They are absolutely fabulous. And I just had to make a pair. There are a number of patterns that have already been written for these gloves, and I tried out several of them, but found them to either be too confusing or too bulky or not full enough. So I worked on my own pattern, and it’s available here for free!

I made these with a specific person in mind because the pattern and the yarn I used were just too perfect for her. And she’s my magical mermaid, thus the name. 😉

For these fingerless mitts, I used Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable in Parrot, but of course, you can use any LIGHT worsted weight yarn. Be sure to choose a color-variegated yarn. This pattern does not look as magical or as pretty in a solid color. I promise. Also, I think I used a little over one skein of yarn. I’m not entirely sure because I used a bit of leftover yarn, then used a new skein… Crocodile stitches use A LOT of yarn, so just be prepared.

  1. I love this pattern, however, as my eyes age I find I can’t read some kinds of text. The text on this pattern came out very small and light in color. Is there anyway I could get this as text so I could change the font to something I can read.
I know I ask a lot but I bet I’m not the only one with this problem. The text seems to be squished together also.

    1. Hi Judy! Thank you for the feedback! I’ve changed the font and uploaded a new file, so if you click on the link, you’ll get the new PDF that should be easier to read. 🙂

    1. Hi Angela! I’m sorry you’re having trouble accessing the pattern. I just tested the link, and I’m not having any problems with it. Please feel free to send me your email address (to julia @, and I will email the pattern to you.
